If you are looking for hypnotherapy for weight loss in Haywards Heath, Clinic at Borde Hill offers hypnotherapy with Nicola Preston Bell at Naldred Farm Offices on the Borde Hill estate. This page covers what the sessions involve, what they cost and how to book.
Hypnotherapy is not a weight-loss treatment and it is not a diet. It is a therapy working through conversation and guided relaxation, used by some people as support while they work on habits — alongside, not instead of, advice from a GP or dietitian. To book, call 01444 616797 or send us a message.
What weight-loss hypnotherapy is
Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to help you settle into a calm, concentrated state, then works through conversation and suggestion. You stay aware and in control throughout, and can stop at any point. There is a fuller explanation on our hypnotherapy page.
When the subject is weight, the conversation is about behaviour rather than the scales: why you eat as you do, what gets in the way of changes you have decided on, and how to keep going when motivation dips.
Can hypnotherapy help you lose weight?
We make no claims about how effective hypnotherapy is for weight, and nobody can promise you a result. It is not a standalone fix. People respond very differently: some find the sessions useful, others find another approach suits them better.
What it offers is an unhurried space to examine habits and the thinking around them — whether that proves useful to you is individual, and a fair thing to ask before you book.
What happens in a hypnotherapy session
Your first appointment
The first appointment is mostly conversation. Nicola will ask about your general health, what has brought you in, what you have tried and what you would like to be different. From there you agree what the sessions will focus on.
You do not need a diagnosis, or previous experience of therapy, to book, and coming in unsure is a normal starting point. Mild drowsiness afterwards is possible; others leave feeling alert. Both are ordinary.
Hypnotherapy alongside medical advice, diet and exercise
Hypnotherapy here is complementary care. It sits alongside whatever else you are doing — NHS or private weight management, a dietitian’s plan, prescribed medication, an exercise programme — and never replaces it. Tell Nicola about any treatment or medication you are having elsewhere. If a condition or medication affects your weight, your GP should be part of the picture.
Subjects clients bring to sessions
Clients bring their own agenda, and nothing below is something the therapy undertakes to deliver. Subjects raised in sessions have included:
- A person’s relationship with food, and how it has changed
- Eating patterns and routines — mealtimes, snacking, portions
- Emotional or comfort eating, and what tends to trigger it
- Motivation, confidence and handling setbacks
- Stress, sleep and relaxation
If you think you may have an eating disorder
We do not provide treatment for eating disorders. If you have, or think you may have, an eating disorder, please speak to your GP, who can refer you to specialist NHS support. You can also contact Beat, the UK’s eating disorder charity, directly and confidentially. You do not need a diagnosis to do either.

Frequently asked questions about hypnotherapy for weight loss
Does hypnotherapy really work for weight loss?
We make no claims about how effective it is; honestly, it depends on the person. Hypnotherapy is not a treatment for weight, and not a replacement for medical, dietary or exercise advice. Be wary of anyone quoting a success rate or a number of pounds.
How many sessions will I need?
That varies from person to person, and Nicola will discuss it at the first appointment once she understands what you want to work on. Nobody should commit you to a fixed course before that conversation.
How much does hypnotherapy for weight loss cost?
A first adult appointment is £90 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, or £100 between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Follow-on adult appointments are £70. The full price list is on our hypnotherapy page.
Can I have hypnotherapy here for an eating disorder?
No. We do not provide treatment for eating disorders. If you have, or think you may have, one, please speak to your GP, who can refer you to specialist NHS support, or contact Beat, the UK’s eating disorder charity.
Is hypnotherapy available on the NHS?
Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy and not part of standard NHS weight management, so sessions here are private and self-funded. If you would like NHS support with your weight, your GP is the starting point — and you can do both.
What about virtual gastric band hypnotherapy?
It is a separate service here, not part of hypnotherapy for weight loss. The clinic lists Virtual Gastric Band as a four-session package at £400, priced apart from the appointments above and listed on our hypnotherapy page. Despite the name it is a guided-imagery technique — no surgery, no device, no procedure.
