Winter weather can be tough on your feet. Cold temperatures, heavier footwear, and dry indoor heating can all lead to discomfort if foot care slips down the priority list. The good news is that a few simple habits can help keep your feet healthy during the winter season.
At The Clinic at Borde Hill, we regularly support patients with winter-related foot concerns. Here are our top tips to keep your feet feeling their best this winter:

Winter Footcare Tips
1 Choose Supportive Winter Footwear
Well-fitting shoes or boots with good grip help keep feet comfortable and reduce the risk of slipping on wet or icy surfaces.
2. Wash & Moisturise Daily
Clean your feet daily, dry them thoroughly (especially between the toes), and apply a moisturising foot cream to prevent dry, cracked skin.
3. Wear Breathable Socks
Opt for cotton or bamboo socks rather than very thick styles. Natural, breathable fabrics help reduce excess moisture and keep feet comfortable.
4. Warm Feet Gently
Avoid hot water or radiators. Let cold feet warm up naturally with cosy socks and time indoors to reduce the risk of chilblains.
5. Keep Toenails Trimmed
Even in winter, regular nail care matters. Trim toenails straight across to help prevent ingrown nails and breakage.
If you’re experiencing foot pain, skin changes, or nail problems this winter, foot healthcare at The Clinic at Borde Hill will help.
