What Is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)?

EFT is a science-backed therapy that combines ancient acupressure tapping with modern psychological techniques. This non-invasive approach targets the body’s energy meridian points while clients focus on specific emotional challenges, enabling rapid release of stored emotional distress. EFT bridges mind and body healing in a way that supports lasting wellbeing.

Safety & scope: EFT is a complementary approach. It can work alongside your GP, counsellor or therapist where appropriate. For urgent mental-health concerns, contact your GP or NHS services.

How Does EFT Work?

During an EFT session, you’ll tap lightly on key acupressure points on your face, hands, and body while tuning into your feelings or issues. This process helps “reset” your body’s stress response by clearing disruptions in your energy system. Sessions are personalised to match your unique needs, allowing you to rewrite limiting patterns and build healthier emotional habits naturally.

FAQs

What happens in an EFT (tapping) session?

We agree on clear goals, then combine guided conversation with tapping on specific points to reduce stress responses and reframe unhelpful patterns. You’ll leave with simple home practice. Sessions are collaborative; you’re in control throughout.

How many EFT sessions will I need?

It depends on your goals and history. Many people notice a change in 3–6 sessions. We review progress regularly and adjust the plan together.

Is EFT safe, and does it replace counselling or GP care?

EFT is generally safe when delivered by an accredited practitioner. It’s complementary, not a substitute for counselling or medical care. We can work alongside your GP/therapist with your consent.

What can EFT help with?

Common reasons to book include stress and worry cycles, confidence blocks, limiting beliefs, habit triggers (e.g., procrastination), and navigating life transitions. For anxiety or low mood, EFT may support regulation and reframing alongside your GP/therapist.

Do you offer EFT near me in West Sussex, and online?

Yes. We’re based in Haywards Heath, serving Lindfield, Cuckfield, Burgess Hill, Crawley, Horsham, Uckfield, and the wider Mid Sussex area. Evening slots available; online sessions can be arranged on request.

How much does EFT cost, and how do I book?

Initial 90 mins: £85 (ad hoc). Follow-up 75 mins: £75 (bundle 3–10) or £65 (ongoing weekly). Free parking and disabled access at the Clinic at Borde Hill. Book online, by email, or by phone to schedule your session.

Why does my anxiety feel so physical even when I’m not worried about anything?

This happens because anxiety is a nervous system response, not just a thinking problem. While your mind knows you are safe, your “survival brain” may still be stuck in a protective stress loop. Traditional talking therapy helps you understand why you feel this way, but releasing the physical tension often requires somatic (body-based) tools to teach your nervous system that the danger has passed.
