What is it that you or a loved one are struggling with?  Perhaps it’s stress, depression or anxiety, family or relationship difficulties, alcohol or drug issues or an eating disorder.  Maybe it’s just one or a combination of situations that are causing problems and making day to day life difficult to deal with.  And it’s not always easy to know where to turn, how to change or even to just ask for help.

Counselling, Psychotherapy & Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Sometimes simply talking to a trusted professional in confidence helps and can in itself trigger a process of change. A specific method such as CBT is highly effective but can be challenging and you’ll often be encouraged to tackle situations that make you feel uncomfortable. But just making the decision to come and face the problem means you’ve taken the hardest step!

Using CBT techniques and guided by an experienced CBT practitioner, you’ll begin to understand the issues you’re struggling with and how that affects your perceptions and your behaviour. And working through these issues is a major part of helping you make better decisions and lifestyle choices and starting to enjoy personal change.

Cognitive approaches can be used in different ways according to your specific problems. For example if you have deep rooted issues, which you’ve struggled with for a number of years, then you may well benefit from a gentle and compassionate approach. This can mean long term therapy, but ultimately it depends on what works best for you. Your progress will be reviewed regularly and you’ll be asked for feedback. And of course, you do need to be fully involved with and committed to your recovery. You may also need longer term therapy if you’re struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), childhood trauma, addictive behaviour or a personality disorder.
